Default Does this Taurus worth the money?

I am in the market for a Taurus. The delearship is asking $5600 for a 2005 model with 43,000 miles. The car body is in almost perfect condition. Is this year model a looser or a winner?.

What model: SE or SEL?
Which engine: 3.0 OHV, 3.0 OHV FLEX Fuel or 3.0 DOHC?
Type interior: Cloth or Leather?
What options such as:
4-Wheel ABS
AM/FM/Cassette/CD Changer Audio System
Automatic Climate Control
Automatic On/Off Headlights
Daytime Running Lights
Flex Fuel Option
Front Side Airbags
MACH Audio
Power Front Passenger Seat
Power Heated Mirrors
Power Moonroof
Rear Spoiler
Traction Control

This will also determine the value of the vehicle along with your own opinion.

Have your tried getting a used vehicle pricing from edmonds.com? Their site will provide TRADE-IN, PRIVATE SALE and RETAIL pricing all on one page.

Per EDMONDS.COM

TRADE-IN VALUE= $5,282
PRIVATE PARTY SELLER = $6,496
DEALER RETAIL PRICE = $7,412

I would say that the price is fair. The Taurus is a durable car and the 3.0 VULCAN engine is hard to kill. I've seen these go 300,000 miles with regular maintenance.

eagront, I would say that you should spend time driving this Taurus and see if you will be comfortable in this car for a long trip. Make sure it has enough room for your needs and drive it on less than perfect roads to see how it does at covering up imperfections in the road. If so, then it depends on the fuel mileage you are wanting. The Vulcan powered Tauruses are not very fuel efficient due to the short gearing they have equipped them with since 1996 to make the engine coast and feel faster. If mileage between 20 city 27 highway is acceptable (or 18 city 25 highway under the new ratings),I would go ahead with it.

As Use Common Sense said, the Vulcan engine is extremely reliable and are near indestructible engines. We had a 1998 that we sold to my aunt who has put over 220K and they beat the daylights out of it. My uncle who is retired from Ford has one with over 250K on the Vulcan. There are few cars that will last longer and better than a Vulcan powered Taurus and require as little and inexpensive maintenance.

Thank you guys for your replies. I decided to buy it for $5,500, so far I have been commuting to work (140 miles round trip), and I got 21 MPG. So far everything look perfect.

One thing that I have found that can help with the fuel economy is a K&N air filter. They generally also help the throttle response as well. Enjoy your Taurus.
