Default Engine Misfire 2002 Taurus

I own 2002 Ford Taurus, 3.0 SOHC. Put Lucas "Tune up in a bottle" in gas tank w/ 1/2 tank of gas last night. On way to work (I drive 30 miles one way), car started to jerk, especially when I was stopped then accelerated. I thought "bad gas" and filled tank. On the drive home, engine light started to blink (book said engine misfire) and then remained on. Could it have been the "Tune up in a bottle"? What to do now?

Probably not related to the Lucas product. But I think you nailed it when you said "Tune Up". This should also include a fuel and air filters. Stop by major parts store (Autozone, Advance, Pep Boys) and they will read the codes for free. Get the exact number of the code and post back.

It's just a strange conincidence that the gradual 'jerking' and sluggish/skipping first gear acceleration started after I put the Lucas product in my tank. Maybe it freed up 'gunk' that clogged up my fuel filters? The fuel filter is 3 years old and air filter is less than 4 months old. Maintenance every 3 months: oil changes, etc. Car just rolled over to 100K. I'll go by and get codes tomorrow. Thanks

Or maybe the "tune up in a bottle" clogged by fuel injectors by freeing up 'gunk'? Is that possible? VERY FRUSTRATED!! I can access 4 of the spark plugs to replace them (they're in front). How hard is it to access the other two, behind the motor (between the motor and firewall)?

codes pointed to bad ignition coil. Local garage where I have all cars serviced/maintained did diagnosis and is replacing ignition coil for less than $200. I researched and price for ignition coil, alone, ranges $120-$150. Mechanic tested all wires/plugs: all firing properly in lieu of bad ignition coil. Will post later when I pick up car to see if everthing is fixed correctly

If you don't mind, could you please tell us what was done with a "complete tune-up"?
Also ,that check engine light may be giving a different code now.
Do you think we could get that code(s) ?
