Thanks for that good information. I would add; Do not assume that the component mentioned in a DTC is a bad component. A DTC is triggered when the computer does not get the signal it is programmed to expect in a given set of circumstances, e.g. idle, accelerating, etc. The cause of the DTC may be a bad component, e.g. a sensor, but it can also be a bad connection due to corrosion or forgotten during reassembly, or it may be a pin-out at another connection somewhere else in the harness, or it may be a shorted or open wire in the circuit. Intermittent problems and codes are often connection related, e.g. ground connections. Hope this helps.

 

You need to be careful with Ford misfire codes because FORD PCMs have a habit of fibbing when they indicate which cylinder is misfiring. They don't always tell the truth(correct cyl). Quite a few times it was an adjacent cyl.
