Taurus accelerates when put into drive
#11
I don't know if I can be of any more help than what has already been suggested.
Does the vehicle have cruise control?
If yes, see if you can disconnect it from the throttle linkage and see if the problem is still present.
Sometimes the cruise components can get to malfunction and cause problems like this.
If it does correct the problem, let us know , then we may be able to suggest where to go from there.

Fixed my Taurus
I wish I could tell you what fixed it. The IAC checked bad, so I changed it, but it did not seem to make a difference. I disconnected the cruise control cable, and again no difference. I cleaned the MAF, tightened all intake bolts(were not loose). I drove the car to work, and used the cruise control, when I disengaged to CC everything worked fine, and has for two days and 100 miles. Sorry I don't have a better answer.

2004 Ford Taurus reving high on its own
My 2004 taurus in the middle of road , specially after going over 50 mph, it revs automatically. I have to apply brakes hard & hold the brake. Otherwise the car will fly.
temp fix is come to stop; put it in Park gear; press gas pedal hard a couple of times, then it goes back to normal.
i think there is a gas pedal sensor or cable that needs to be replaced. But not sure what in the pedal mechanism needs to be replaced.

You could be right, however, we usually try to eliminate any items one at a time so we don't wind up replacing a lot of good parts.
Until all the linkage is verified working normally, not good throwing parts at the problem. Guessing can get expensive and disappointing.
