Anyone know if the later AX4N trans can replace the bad AX4S trans (called "AXOD Metric" on the trans pan) in my 94 Taurus? A friend has one from a 98 Sable. Is the computer interface different, making them unable to "talk" to each other? Any advice would be welcome. BTW, here's the Wiki page link about this family of transmission.

I'm not sure about going in-between 2nd/3rd generation models...but I've been told that with at least the 3rd gen. (96-99) Taurus/Sable you can't swap them out without changing the computers...
