Default winter starting problem

2000 taurus started each winter till 3yrs ago..starts up on 2nd or 3rd try..sometimes after a few minutes or even after hours....fuel pump and battery are ruled out....sputters at times when it tries to start..other times starts right up...put in new FIV 2 winters ago in march but then the next dec it wasnt starting again...said something about pressure and had it hooked up to something and did well rest of winter...now, in nov starting to have problems again...

If it was an Audi I'd say it was the ETS but I don't know a lot about Fords.

It sounds like a temp sensor is at fault, but I don't know which one!

can you drive 20-30 mins and shut it down 6 hours and it start right up or does it take a few times of cranking on it and how cold does it get at night where you live and do you get your fuel at the same place

it doesnt have to be real cold-damp,40'stemp or colder. from mar to nov it starts perfectly. it often will sputter and i have to hit the gas pedal a bit to get it running smoothly. I get gas regularly at the same place.
