I just bought a 77 Thunderbird that had been sitting for 30 years. Car is running and starts fine but idles very high when I pull on the throttle it slows to normal and I think I may be missing a spring the pull it back but I'm newer to Ford's and there isn't much information about the older 351s

 

That's how I remember carburated engines behaving when cold starting and coming off fast idle.
