Ford Thunderbird Starting in the 1950s, this was a classic American sports cars, from the compact original of the 1950s, to the muscular hard top coupes of the 1980s and 1990s to the retro look of the 2003 model year, this car is, and always will be, an American classic.

I would like to do some performance work on my Tbird. It has the 4.6, which I assume is pretty much the same as the Mustang GT (Maybe I should not assume!) I am thinking of a beefier TB and underdrive pulleys to start with. I would appreciate any input. Thanks in advance.

I don't know if you have ever been here but I swear by the site www.tccoa.com. Read the tech articles and there is hours of good reading in the forum. I almost want to say that the mustang 4.6 has a split port intake where as the t-bird's didn't. I know that is the case with the 3.8L that they put in the t-birds and mustangs. Thats why the 3.8L mustangs are so much faster than the 3.8L t-birds. That and they weigh at least 1000 pounds less.

how are you? well... just to make your life interesting the 94 LX 4.6L has what's called a POS plastic air box sitting right on the TB... the TB should be interchangable since any part can be fabricated to work (for the most part) but it's best to go through a thunderbird specific website. tccoa.com is an excellent resource for this currently... give this site some time... this will become an excellent resource as well!
