Default 01 Ford Ranger pickup

I'm trying to help someone with a check engine light on in an 01 Ford Ranger pickup. It has the 4 liter single overhead cam V6.

The computer readout says that the oxygen sensor in "Bank 1, Sensor #2" has failed.

The problem is I don't know which cylinder bank is Bank 1, and I don't know what sensor Sensor 2 is.

How many oxygen sensors do these trucks have, anyway?

Thanks for the help.

Being a "V" engine, it will have either 3 or 4 sensors. Bank 1 is passenger side, sensor 2 is the one behind the converter. Before you replace the sensor, what was the exact code number? That will allow us to research the problem and offer more accurate advice as to the repair. A lot of people will want to replace the sensors if it has a lean code. So we really need the exact code number.
