Question 1949 Ford N00B cluster question.

I have a 1949 Ford Custom.

In the cluster there are small indicator lights and they are right and left for the turn signals... The indicator lights do not come on either left or right in the cluster.

They do however come on in the box on the blinker lever.

Why does the cluster have the spot for the indicator lights if they do not really work?

Thanks

Turn signals were a dealer install item in those early years. Check the bulbs in the cluster and see if they are good or even installed. Also they may have been wired as emergency lights only which also was a rare dealer item install. Your other option would be to run wires from the turn signal switch which should be clamped on the column to each signal marker bulb in the dash. Hope this helps.

I see, there is a blinker switch that is mounted to the cluster. It has indicator lights in it. No working hazards... Even though it does have the pull for hazard function on the switch.

New pressure switch and new connector still no brakelights and new speedo cable still no spedometer...

Do they make a chiltons like book/ manual for the 49' Ford custom?

There is a book specific to the 49-51 ford shoe boxes. Any vintage car supplier should be able to help you. Also the speedo is mechanical, make sure the square end of the speedo cable is properly positioned and pushed into the back of the speedometer then secure it with the screw on casing.
Then check the transmission end of the cable. you will need a 3/8th wrench to get the bolt out. Remove the bolt and gently pull the assembly out of the transmission and see if it has a speedo gear attached to it. I had a similar problem and found out the previous owner had not put the driven speedo gear on the end of the cable hence no speedometer at the dash.
As you know there are two wires going to the brake spressure switch, one should be hot. Check with a test light, if one is not then you either have a break in the wire or somone has disconnected it some where in the harness.
