Default 1990 Taurus engine ,use in rear wheel drive?

Can a 1990 Taurus 3.0 engine be coupled to a rear wheel drive transmission? If so ,what kind.I have this perfectly good engine that I would like to use in something else.

If it's the 3.0 OHV Vulcan engine, then yes. That engine was used in the following vehicles with the Aerostar and Ranger/Mazda B3000 being RWD vehicles. So an Aerostar/Ranger/Mazda B3000 tranny that Ford used with this engine would work.

Applications:
1987–1997 Ford Aerostar
1986–2007 Ford Taurus
1986–2005 Mercury Sable
1990–1992 Ford Probe
1991–2008 Ford Ranger
1992–1994 Ford Tempo
1992–1994 Mercury Topaz
1994–2007 Mazda B3000
1995–2000 Ford Windstar

The following transmissions were placed behind it:

5-speed TK5 manual
5-speed M5OD manual
4-speed A4LD automatic

There may be others though.
