Default HVAC control

Hello! I'm working on finding the power source for my A/C system. (E250 5.8l 1988) My doc's indicate a Bown with a White strip or trace, I think #18 gauge. I can't find it anywhere. I have the dual fans working and applied power to the A/C clutch directly... the A/C did activate and my AUX unit got cool. not sure on the front vents due too some vacuum control issues and I'm working them out. Is there anyone out there who could guide me ... I'm asking for help! Very hot in Tucson! I do have a partial schematic and it references the Brown/White wire.
Thank you.

Simple things first, did you check the fuses?
It's not that difficult to remove the panel where the blower and function switches are located. Suggest you confirm that you have power coming to the function and blower switches since diagrams can vary and if there is any possibility of being different it can throw you off. One thing for sure 18 gauge wire is too small for power to an A/C system.
Have found many diagrams just did not match the vehicle.
If you have the owner's manual it may show if there is an A/C relay and if so relay could either not be getting energized or be defective.
