1993 4.9L inline 6 will not start. - Long and frustrated post - sorry
I have a 1993 4.9l 300ci inline 6 f150. I recently pulled the distributor core out in order to remove a broken screw that held the distributor cap on. I replaced the core and cap, hooked everything back up and the truck ran fine. when i drove in town around 40mph the tach would start bouncing around. I decided to retime the distributor by setting the first cylinder at TDC. I set the distributor at cylinder 1 and tried to start it. It cranks and occasionaly will run at very low rpms then stop, i would guess less than 300rpms. i have reset TDC many times and same problems. I have been double checking my spark plug cables the make sure that they are going to the right place. Any suggestions on what could be causing this? Im moving in a week and i need to get it running.
ALSO; I read on a forum that someone else was having an issue trying to star there 93 f150. He said that there was a small button located on the steering wheel column bracket under the dash. he pressed it and the truck started right up. Anyone know what it looks like and if it is even on my vehicle?
