Default 1996 Probe belt problem

I don't know too much about cars so I'm really in need of help here. I have a 1996 Probe 4 cylinder that has a serious belt problem. It just keeps squealing. I first had both belts on the car tightened and it still squealed. Then i went and actually bought 2 new belts for it adn took it to a mechanic to have them put on...... still squeals. My friend and I have noticed though that the squealing only happens when the fan is running, so I'm thinking maybe that's why th mechanic didn't see the problem. Any help with this would be appreciated.

It's probably the fan clutch. We've fixed sqealing with Silicone Spray, available at any auto parts store. If this doesn't work, or only works temporarily, it may be time for a new fan clutch.

Jdidy,
Does it also coinsides with the A/C turning on. The fans will also turn on with the A/C and if the compressure is bad ie. locking up, it will make the belts squeal like hell. For a temp fix you can disconnect the wires at the compressure, they go to the compressure's mag. coil at the front of the compressure narrest the belts. (the compressure also works in the defrost postion)
You should have a certified mechanic fix the a/c.
