Default 2002 5.4 Tune up

Hi all, Just turned 100k in my '02 econoline 5.4 and would like to perform recommended maintenance. However, after reading all the horror stories with the spark plugs on this motor i'm wondering if I should leave well-enough alone. There are currently no issues with the van, just trying to do the right thing.
Any thoughts anyone?
Thanks,
Deefor

Did you buy this vehicle new?
If not, maybe the previous owner had plugs replaced which would make things easier.
If you have owned it since new, why did you wait so long to replace the plugs now?
You know how that story goes, no good deed goes unpunished.
Whatever the case, if you check with your local Ford dealer parts dept, bring in the vin, and they should be able to tell you if your vehicle is in that group that requires some prep before removing the plugs. That has always saved me a lot of grief.

I've had it since it was six months old so it's doubtful if the plugs have ever been changed.
Reasons I waited so long were ignorance of any issues, and following what I believed to be the recommened 100k plug interval. However, in retrospect, I have no clue where I read that.
Good advice on the dealer parts dept. though. I'll check with them in the morning.

The 02 does not have the problem of breaking plugs. That started in 04. The tune up should be the same as any other.
