Default 2003 Ford Escape-Battery dead

I have a 2003 Escape. Everytime the radio if left on, the battery is dead by morning. I then made sure the radio was off- again the next morning the battery was dead. The mirrors won't work when the fuse is out. Does anybody have any suggestion as to what might be going on? desperate to find an answer. Please help.

Maybe your radio isn't the battery problem. If it's dead whether the radio is left on or off maybe the problem is your voltage regulator. If the voltage regulator goes bad it drains the battery. I had this problem in my 90 Taurus. Every morning my battery was dead no matter how careful I was to shut all electrical devices off.

I'm not sure if an Escape has an internal voltage regulator in the alternator or an external regulator which is easy and inexpensive to fix.

Hi, do you leave the key in the ignition at the accessories position with the radio ON? If yes, it is normal to have a dead battery after a few hours. Do you have an aftermarket radio? If yes, was it hooked up so that you can turn it ON without the key in the ignition?

Nic.
