Where is it located at? Is it behind the dash?

I have a 2005 Ford Five hundred and have experienced a dead dash before. It typically occurs after a heavy rain when the interior of the car gets wet and the humidity is high. After it dries out it returns to normal.

Over the years I've found different sources for moisture, first being a leaking sun roof that would not properly drain through a vent tube and instead leaked over the dash. I kept noticing a wet floor mat. I opened the sun roof and ran a piece of weed eater line down the drain port until it came out near the left side wiper blade.

Second problem was when I left pressure treated lumber in the car and the damp wood caused the interior to become soaked.

And finally, I parked the car for several months and the battery died. A new battery required the car to "reset" all the computers which, although it took some time, did eventually get everything back to normal. When the dash went dead the turn indicators also didn't work, along with most other electronics.

My recommendation is to check out if your lights work (turn, brake, headlights, etc) then, if it's safe, drive it and use the air conditioning to dry out the interior.

Good Luck.
