Good to know we have an expert to consult.
Just for my own curiosity, could you tell me what years Ford started to use Can Bus system that included the instrument cluster as one of the modules in the network?
Your experience should help answer a lot of questions where the inst clust produces some of the problems. Thanks for your help.

well that's a hard question to answer lol. ford has been using a data system to include the instrument cluster for a long time, think i can go back to the early 90's. then it really breaks down to specific vehicles. CAN wasn't required on cars till 2008 ish. Though on your mid 2000's trucks the cluster started controling the dome lights, radio, power windows thru the relay system while not using CAN for this. back in the early 90's the f150 had what was called a PSOM in the instrument cluster that sent the speed signal to the ecm to control shifting. so in other words, the instrument clusters in ford have been apart of the "network" for a long time

Thanks for the info !
Was aware they graduated on to increased use of the IC, but specific info was not always easily available. Your help and assistance should answer a lot of questions that come up here and hopefully will prevent a lot of folks from replacing a lot of good parts.

Default What is normal parasitic draw for PSOM / odometer memory?

I’m guessing it should only be a few mA and not 40-50 I’m seeing. Also it increases over time (I’m assuming as a short heats up). My project truck is a 1993 F250 7.3L IDI. So far I haven’t been able to find the answer to this question anywhere and want to confirm I have a problem before replacing or repairing the PSOM. Parasitic draw drops to just a couple mA when I unplug the PSOM wiring harness. Automatic transmission shifts a little rough but not terrible. Any thoughts or opinions will be greatly appreciated.

i just purchase a 2010 FORD E350 Econoline VAN, With a Quigley 4x4 undercarriage. 18" wheels, Tiers Pathfinder LT285/70R17.
Question: these are not the rims or wheels that came from the manufacture, so now my speedometer is not calibrated to the correct speed, IS there a correction for this?
any input would be helpful.

AC is affected when cluster glitches, tapping dash resolves and it happens again periodically

Default 2005 E350 Super Duty - Cruise Indicator Light?

I've managed to enable the cruise on my van despite Ford changing the buttons on the steering wheel midway through production without documentation. Since then I've installed power windows, power locks, & power mirrors all to factory. Now to my question. My instrument cluster does not have an indicator light for cruise. Is there an easy fix by swapping out instrument clusters with one that does? I noticed the 2007 Econoline cluster does have the indicator light.

OK button not clickable because Engine is not selected. Check my signature below.
Are you sure it's not a bad bulb?
Do you mind to install an LED indicator on a blank dash button?
