Default 2009 Flex Transmission seal leaking

Hi my transmission started slipping and the Ford place said the transmission was low in fluid because the seal was leaking. Is this something that I can replace myself or does it take specialty tools. Thanks for all your help. I really can't afford to pay much.

Hi Henry !
There has to be more than one place that the trans has seals. None are "easy "to replace just some are easier than others. Do you have any idea where the leak is coming from or did they tell you which seal was leaking ?
A lot depends on how bad the leak is because you could always check the level daily and add as required and maybe wind up paying a little at a time until circumstances change.

If it leaks a quart a month, it would take a long time to spend as much as it might cost to get the seal replaced. A quart a day, would be another matter.

They said the connector seal and grommet was leaking and needed to be replaced. I'm not sure what that means and I am not at home. My wife is trying to take care of it, but I will be home tomorrow and will look at it. Thanks

ok This seal is leaking about two quarts a week now so I guess its time to fix it. Can anyone tell me how to do this. I believe I have to drop the transmission pan to disconnect the connector and replace the seal and the reinstall it all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the time with front wheel drive you need to remove the left front wheel, support the engine then remove the engine mount assy so you can remove the trans cover. Once you have the cover removed you may need to get the entire harness that goes from the exterior plug into the trans and connects to the shift solenoids, the pressure control solenoid converter clutch solenoid and a few more wires. If you aren't prepared with the necessary tools it could become a nightmare job. The ideal tool would be a vehicle lift where you could work at a comfortable height and have the tool to support the engine while the rear mount was removed.
