Angry 2011 Ford Escape making terrible vibration.

I replaced 3 tires about 2 months ago. AFter that I have been having intermittent, inconsistent vibration up to steering wheel. It sounds like a bump on the tire, but it doesn't happen consistently and lasts about 5 to 10 minutes. On smooth flat road, it starts bumping with vibration to the steering wheel, about 1700 rpm at about 45 to 50 mph. Took to mechanic today and he drove it and of course, nothing. He didn't think it could be tires, but he torqued the lug nuts down. It is so inconsistent, it's hard to tell what is going on. Any suggestions.

If it is as terrible as you say, the entire steering assy should be checked it is trying to tell you something.
Suggest you have a shop that does front end work check the steering, suspension and drive systems before it gets too bad to drive.

Next time when that vibration happens again, you shift into neutral, does it make any difference?
