Default '78 f150 head gasket

I'm looking for some advice here folks. I have a '78 f150 with a 351-w that seems to have a head gasket leak, but it is leaking to the outside and not into the coolant. Do you think that a gasket repair formula that goes into the radiator might still work on it? Looking at what it would take to get at all of the bolts hasd me a bit daunted, that is why I am asking. I certainly don't want to put that kind of money into having a shop do it. Thank you in advance for your opinions.
