Default 97 F150 Radio Problems

Thanks for viewing, hopefully someone can help me. I have no sound from any of my speakers. I had the radio checked, it does work. The factory radio is am/fm/cass/cd, and I have the disc changer installed the the rear stationery door. What can I check next?

You might check out the antenna system. If the antenna lead in wire is grounded for some reason the radio will not pick up any stations. I am referring to the wire inside the antenna cable itself. Also if water has migrated into the antenna system it will cancel out all the incoming signals. One way to confirm this would be to insert a 3 ft. piece of wire into the inner antenna connection opening on the radio . If it is an antenna problem you should get some kind of reception from a nearby station.
The CD section is not affected by the antenna system so you might have a broken wire from the radio unit to the speaker system.

Thanks for the info. I removed the factory radio and installed an aftermarket spare radio I have. I also attached a speaker from an old boom box and the radio works fine through the boom box speaker. Do you think the amplifier is bad? If so, how do I remove the factory amplifier to replace it, or is it easier to bypass the amplifier and how do I do that? As you can tell, radios, amps, and speakers are not my forte'.
