so i bought a 99 ford contour with vct variable cam timing and im trying to determine my issue its throwing code p1383 over retarded cam timing bank 1 im not sure what i need to do some people say its the vct solenoid going bad some people say new timing belt and tensioners and retime the motor and i really dont know whats wrong with this car it only has 160k on it and the motor runs strong but it misfires because of the timing and trys to stall out sometimes it does stall but it fires right back up im planing to buy the ford tools and swap the timing belt myself and replace the tensioners and put it back to perfect timing and flush the oil and do a new filter is it hard to change the vct solenoid???
