Blindspot Information System (BLIS) Concerns
I have for a few weeks been driving my wife's 2020 Ford Escape SE, and have concerns about the operation of the Blindspot Information System on the car. To preface, I have ridden with her driving and drove the car myself in the past, so I am generally aware of how the system works, if something is your blindspot while driving, it will flash the light on the side mirrors. Starting maybe 2-3 weeks ago, it seems like the notifying lights on the mirrors have been going on at random times. It has gone off on both driver and passenger side, during seemingly normal driving conditions. It will go off if there is no one near me, and sometimes if I on an inside lane nearer to a median, but still 10 - 12 ft from the side of the vehicle. During these moments of the lights coming on has it ever shown any type of error code on the dash.
Can anyone provide any clarity on why this could be happening? Do I just not fully understand the parameters of how the system works? I couldn't seem to find a clear definition of the system beyond what I already understood. Any input would be appreciated.
