I have a 98 mercury sable and today the e brake light came on, even though the e brake was not pressed down or engaged. Then later on my brakes felt really mushy, almost as if there was no more power brakes, i had to really step down hard to get the car to stop. I get no response from the brakes untill the pedal is almost all the way down to the ground before it starts braking. does anyone know what could be causing this? the abs still works.
