Default Clicking noise

I have a 2006 Ford F150 4x4 with a 4.6 litre engine. Recently from time to time while idling it starts to make a clicking noise from the drivers side of the motor. It goes days without doing it but then will start.. Last time I took it to the garage where I get my repairs done it quit as soon as I got there. Oil levels are up and I have never had any trouble lights come on in the dash. I guess I should be fortunate that I have had no major engine repairs given that it has 252,000 kilometres on it.

Different folks describe different sounds differently.

We don't know if what you are hearing is a valve problem or some other type noise.

Sometimes an oil change with the correct type and spec oil will help get rid of the problem.

The clicking noise from your Ford F150's driver's side motor while idling could indicate several potential issues, such as a faulty lifter, worn camshaft, or even a loose component. Since the noise is intermittent, it may be challenging to diagnose. I recommend having a mechanic perform a thorough inspection while the noise is present, or even leaving the vehicle with them overnight for observation. Despite its high mileage, regular maintenance and attention to such issues can keep your truck running smoothly

Is it really clicking or ticking or knocking noise at idling?
What if you rev does the noise louder?
