Default Cooling system

Ok so i have a 1989 f250 two wheel drive
My question is if i have a large amount of back pressure coming out the top of the radiator causing it to push all the water out on a cold start up does this mean i have a blown head gasket or is it something else

What you might try is to get a cooling system pressure tester and pump up the cooling system to about 15lbs press before starting the engine and see what happens to the pressure. If there are no external leaks , it could be a head gasket problem that expands when hot and slows down the pressure into the cooling system. Would not jump to conclusions until tests confirm problem. Sometimes a defective rad cap can throw a curve here also.
