Default Distributor change from computer controlled to vacuum control

I have a 85 Bronco II, 2.8 L engine. A few years ago, I read on a message board that someone had changed the computer controlled distributor over to a vacuum advanced distributor. Has anyone here actually done this? Or know how to go about it?

You could but you would have to replace the computer controlled carburetor and EGR as well. They both work together. Also, the vacuum and centrifugal advance curves may not be correct for that particular engine design (cam, heads etc.). It will probably run somewhat, but not so great by just changing the distributer.

Thanks for your input. The EGR is long gone. Took all that stuff off 6 years ago when I bought the vehicle. As it stands right now, the only input into that computer is from the O2 sensor, and the throttle position sensor on the carb. For the life of me, I can't figure out why there's a TPS on a carburator. Fuel injected system I can understand, but not on a carb. I'm very curious as to whatever unteraction a TPS has with the computer and therefore the distributor.
