E150 airbag 42 code after vandals
I have a 2006 Ford e150. My van was broken into and the vandals partially removed the front passenger seat air bag cover in the dash. Why I don't know. I was able to reseat the cover but now I have a code 42 reported from the flashing air bag light on the dash. I know that this code is supposed to tell you that there is a problem in the front hood sensor circuit. Is there any way that the removal of the plastic cover could trigger that code and if so how do I fix it? Thanks Tony

It shouldn't have caused the LFC 42, unless the RCM was damaged somehow.
But LFC 42 has two categories or Body Codes for 42.
Body code B2226 is an internal fault detected within the sensor and generally a replacement needed.
Body code B2227 is a communication fault detected on the Demand Test. There are a set of step procedures to check for cause and system prove out on a B2227.
Have you checked the sensor for any vandal caused connector damage, loose etc?
