Hey guys I'm Troy and I'm having issues with my 1996 Ford van 5.8 it shifts fine and sometimes I would get in it and bam hard shift and overdrive lite flashes and if I drive it after it starts hard shift check engine light comes on I scan it says speed sensor bought one installed it worked fine for a bit but hard shifting if any one could help me with this would be great the next thing I was going to buy was a ecm

Generally when you have 'hanging' extended out/forced, harsh shifts it's related to the sensor/connector/harness. When the shifts are poor, does the Speedo reflect a loss in speed input?

 

The speedo is working fine when this happens

 

Can we ask when the trans was serviced last?

 

I just got the van I have not pulled the pan the fluid smells good and full
