E450 Super Duty Truck - alternator failing help
Need help with solving an alternator charging problem. Vehicle was stored for the Winter and it started right up when we picked it up from storage facility. However, the battery light was on and I drive the truck for 40 miles when suddenly, the truck died going 65 MPH. Tested the output if the alternator and there was no output. Installed a new alternator. Drove 150 miles when the battery light came on again and battery was not being charged. AutoZone trsted the new alternator and it was dead! Installed another new alternator and drove 850 mules with no problems. Thought the charging problem was solved. Now after driving another 300 miles, stopped vehicle and parked gor 5 minutes with headlights on. Vehicle started, battery light came on, and the battery voltage indicator on the dash is dropping rapidly. We seem to be perhaps “burning out” another alternator. Here’s what we’ve done so far: Battery tested good, battery terminals are clean, and our vehicle only has 25,000 total miles on it. Webare asking for suggestions or help from anyone who has had a similar problem.

Welcome to the site ..
What year is your van?
Id look for any rodent/harness damage as a start since it was fine prior to the storage event.
Sometimes the aftermarket vendors component offerings are in question. But to fail 3 alts would point me away from the units.
