Having trouble with push rods/oil

Default Having trouble with push rods/oil

Hey everyone, this is my first post on this forum and I'm looking for a little help. I have a ford 351 older style carbed, I think its in the 90s. I was getting a lifter noise and so replaced all the lifters. Everything went real easy and it started right up when it was all put back together. However, there was no oil going up some of the push rods. The rear push rods had oil going up them but not the ones more up forward. This engine has a flat style lifter, no rollers. The rockers are not adjustable but were torqued correctly. The oil is at a good psi. Any info would be great, thanks in advance.

takes a while to pump the lifters up should have soaked them in oil overnight

Could the vehicle be from the late 80's?
Would help if you could tell us what model the vehicle is.
Also did you possibly mix up any of the special bolts that hold the rockers down. I'm not positive on this , but some engines send oil up through the rocker bolts also.

Hey guys thanks for the replies so far. This engine is actually in a boat, it is a pleasurecraft but I went on the boat forum and found little help and thought I would go to a specific ford engine forum. I'm not 100% sure on the year but was told it is in the 90s, sorry about that. I did let the lifters soak over night though. The fulcrum bolts were all kept in there original spots as well as the rockers, we put plenty of oil on the rockers, and push rods were all cleaned and sprayed out with air. The oil did first start to go up the rear most push rod, then the next one in line, then the next one, but then it seemed to not want to go up any more even after being warmed and reved up a bit. Any idea how long it would normally take for the oil to eventually get where it needs to go?

Ok got it. There was a bunch of oil under all the fulcrum bolts and even though the bolts were torqued they weren't correct. When I got all the oil out from under the bolts it worked great. Thanks again.
