How do I remove the front pump on a C4?
I'm trying to take apart a 1972 C4 to rebuild it.
I read where they say to remove the front pump you use a pry bar between the reverse drum and forward drum assy as pictured below.
I tried it. The pump won't budge.
I'm afraid I'm going to bend or destroy the reverse drum tabs.
There aren't any threaded holes in the pump to put bolt in for a puller.
How do I get the pump assembly off?
This one is stuck in there...

I already have the valve body out.
The picture was showing the inside of the trans where the pry bar was.
I got it out.
It took a while but I got it.
I had to tap two of the holes in the pump with a 7/16-14 tap. I then welded up an adapter for my slide hammer puller. I screwed the adapter into the front pump and it took A LOT of slams to get it free.
The gasket was fused to both the pump and the case and had it glued together.
The gasket had to be split or torn for the pump to come out.
Some spray on gasket remover ate the gasket off both pieces so I
didn't have to scrape anything...
Thanks.

A short while after I posted my suggestion the light came on upstairs in my head and I should have known there was no way you could get to the drum with the pan on. That's what happens when you read the post and don't pay attention to what you're reading.
Just a reminder, make sure you try the converter sealing rings for proper fit . Some kits have two different sizes. They are similar , but not the same and the first time I did one I used the wrong size and could get no pressure to apply the clutches and had to open it up and install the correct sealing rings.
