RE: info on my ford motor
The "C" tells you the DECADE of build while the "5"tells you the year of the decade. Thus the "C 5" portion of the casting would tell me that the blockwas cast in1965. From 1965 on, Ford engines were equipped with a stamped metal ID tag, which carries the displacement and model year among other info. This tag is generally attached to either the intake manifold in front of the carb or to the ignition coil on the front of the engine, if you're engine is original and untouched, look for it.
What vehicle year/model is/was it in. And what size do you suspect that it is?

Since Ford didn't produce the 302 until 1968, I would say that you have a 1965 289cuin Windsor engine. The 2-barrel engine came with 9.3:1 compression and the 4-barrel engine came with 10.0:1 compression from the factory.
