It's a FORD thing ?????
Not having technical skills, I have to trust the judgement of those with experience.
We (wife & I) have just purchased a pretty 2003 F350, with the Triton V10. A big plus with our new addition is how tight the steering tracked. I put a picture up of our new addition.
I drove a couple of F350s and they were white knuckle experiences.
I notice a slight clunk, thud from a dead stop, starting out in low gear. I have been told it is the slip yoke and it is 'A FORD THING'. Don't worry about it.
The other 'FORD THING' is a slight growl shifting into overdrive. Again, don't worry about it.
The question ; are these FORD THINGS and are other thingies hiding in the F350.
The truck is fun to drive and it really pulls our travel trailer. We just put about 1200 miles on it towing. It has 81K in miles and I am still trying to track the rest of the specs.

The nice thing about fords is most of those things won hurt anything.
I have a 99 f-350 v-10 that I thought had the slip yoke thing for years , it also had a knock in the left floorboard going over bumps. I replaces sway bar end links and ball joints to get rid of it , and it went away finally when I replaced the track bar. So yes there is a problem , no it wont hurt anything. I drove more than 50,000 miles with that noise before I finally replaced the part that was making the noise.
As far as the transmission growl , I never had that , used to drain and fill my trans fluid every 30k but I have gotten lazy about it since I have 155k on the truck now and just use it as a second vehicle
