Misfire in multiple cylinders..
#4
The PCM provides the ground for the coil to charge and when it opens the circuit(removes the momentary ground ) which creates the spark from the coil. There is a way to confirm if the PCM is grounding the coil when it is supposed to do that. If you know the coil is good and there is constant power to the coil(12 volts) just put a spark plug into the coil terminal and lay the plug against any part of the metal of the engine. You should see the spark at the plug with the engine running. If you know the plug and coil are good and you get no spark that leaves either the wiring from the PCM to the coil or the PCM as faulty. It doesn't make sense to replace a PCM unless you eliminate all the other possible causes AND now the replacement PCM has to be programmed to your particular vehicle or you could come up with a new no start problem. After that if you decide to put the old PCM back in , it still will no longer start . You cannot just switch PCMs without programming the replacement PCM to your vehicle. the security system makes sure of that.
