Default My Poor Taurus

Alright.... I have to ask some question, and maybe this page can help me.... anyone have the same problems or anything... Even is there a recall on 1997 Ford Taurus. Any feed back at all would be great....
I have a 1997 Ford Taurus 82,000 miles its a V6....
These are some of the problems... When starting the car up it will no shift out of first gear until driven about 3 miles... then it makes a hard shift out of first gear, into second... The Speedomotor just does now work at all, also the service engine light is always on.... along with the air conditioner does not work....
i would really like any feed back please...
yours
Ron

Well if youre car has a engine light on / Service Soon light. I would take it into the shop or buy one of those code scan readers, To tell you wants gone wrong.

1.When starting the car up it will no shift out of first gear until driven about 3 miles... then it makes a hard shift out of first gear, into second
Anwser - How does the clutch feel soft / hard / loose / It hard to shift into gear or outta gear when the engine is off? I am thinking you may need a new clutch kit, With a new throw out bearing.

The Speedomotor just does now work at all, also the service engine light is always on
2 anwser - I am thinking youre speed control sensor could be failed thats why youre not speedo reading, I am not 100% sure on that name if you get the codes outta the computer you will be able to find out whats gone wrong.
