mu neighbor had the #3 left plug blow out the other day and had to get one of those doorman 42025 spark plug repair kits. i watched a youtube on this repair and sent that to him but today when i he finally got the coil back on, we could not bolt it on but had to use the old plug boot to go under the fuel rail to hold it down. anyway the engine was started and that coil was moving up and down a bit, is this normal if they are not fastened down? and providing he installed it correctly how long do these hold up?

he said he tigened the plug in that adapter. so if the coil is bouncing up and down i'm curious to what can cause that. i told him to remove a bolt from the #6 coil and see if that one does the same. the engine looked to be running smooth and after the initial startup it did now sound like the compression was leaking out of the plug area. but when it first started it di have a short noise that could have been compression from that sylinder.

he said he thinks he got that adapter in all the way but it is hard to tell. he used red locktite and i told him he may not get it out unless the engine is hot and then he may have to try it again unless it pops out then he has to anyway. so if anyone has done this and can tell me if it worked for you that will be great. thanks bp.

 

It should not be moving. It will just eat up the new threads that were cut. Look for my post today for my experience with this. Red permatex didn't work for me either.
