Exclamation Rear Main Seal?

Hey guys. Newbie here...

1999 Ford Contour, DOHC, 2.0L, 4 cyl
160.000 miles

I just started getting an oil leak. Been lucky so far for almost 160.000 miles without a leak.

Been using Ford oil semi-synthetic oil 5x30 for a long time.

My last oil change the guy told me I had a leak and looks lke the rear main seal. Subsequently, he suggested I use Costrol High Mileage oil 5x30 and add something to try and stop the leak. He suggested Bar's Leaks Rear Main Seal Repair *may* work but could not guarentee it. Also, change from using the Ford oil filter to Fram.

I went ahead and did this. Now, after 300 miles, I noticed that the leak is worse.

Any suggestions? Is it the change in the oil or the additive itself?

Suggestions please. I am very frustrated.

Vlaj

No oil is oil. You have 160k that seal is dryed up and hard as a rock thats why it's leaking the only way to fix it is bite the bullet and change it.
