Default short in the system

my friend bought a 95 ford aspire that the previous owner supposedly changed the clutch in but he took the motor out to do it. when he put it back in he did not hook any wires up and i am struggling to reinstall the electrical part and there is a short in the electrical because when i hooked up the battery there was a big spark so i pulled it off real quick. i then pulled the fuses in the engine compartment one by one and no sparks until i got to the main fuse and ity was welded in so i am thinking that is the problem circuit. but what is on that circuit?

I don't know how much help this might be , but maybe,,

Go to www.fleetford.com enter the info for a 96 aspire
I couldn't get the info for a 1995, but you can get the owner's manual for a 1996 Aspire . It does show the fuses and relays and what they protect . Maybe you might be able to use some of that info.
