Stalling and hard idle

I have a 98 escort and it stall's at lights or if it's just outta gear. If it's not stalling, then it idles rough jumping back and fourth between 500-1000 RPM's. What could be causing this problem? Any help would be greatly appericated....Thanks

it sounds like you may have a stuck EGR, try pulling the vaccum line off while the car is idleing.

You may also have a vacuum leak somewhere.Check all the rubber hoses under the hood & the intake gaskets.
