Sync3 update failure
I recently bought a used 2017 F350 with Sync3 that probably has never had an update since it was new, and have been trying to update it with no luck. It currently has a 2.2 version and my account tells me there is a 3.0 version update available for it. I tried updating it via Wi-Fi but it just stops on 'searching for updates' and never does anything (the Ford Support tech said it was probably too old of a version for Wi-Fi), so I downloaded the new version and extracted the files onto FIVE different USB drives (including a brand new 32GB USB3.0 drive that the Ford Support tech told me to purchase to make sure it was a compatible drive). I tried formatting the drives using FAT, FAT32, and exFat (which is the recommended format), all with the same result. Using the front USB ports in the console, every single time it starts with 'Updating System Software', and then after about 5 minutes it fails with error code PKG_ERR03, which typically indicates it can't read the files or that they are corrupt. I've re-downloaded the files 3 different times and even did a file compare on the files after I extracted them to see if any were different, and they are always the same, so the files aren't corrupted. The Ford Tech support line threw their hands up and said the only thing they can tell me to do at this point is to take it to a dealer, which of course will cost me who knows how much for something that should be free and easy to do.
Any ideas?
