turn key and nothing

Did you replace the tumbler or the switch assy that should be mounted on the lower part of the strg col?
If I remember correctly there is a toothed piece on the end of the tumbler section that moves a toothed rack connected to a rod that moves the ign switch assy.
That is all mechanical linkage.

No I didnt, this is the other end of a metal wire that runs up to the key switch?

battery turned out bad. Do you think that could be the cause of all the starting problems?
