Default Wobble and Griding

So yeah, I am new and I signed up to ask an automotive repair question, sorry.

I have a 2000 Expedition 4x4 with a couple of issues that popped up at the same time so I am thinking they are related and I thought I would get some opinions on what was wrong.

1. The truck wobbles back and forth at slow speeds. It rocks, like if you were to bend an axle (this could be the problem). And of course, at fast speeds, it shimmy's a lot.

2. Particularly when driving a long distance at high speeds, more noticeably when going uphill, it seems as though something is grinding. Now my first thought was, "O crap its my tranny" then I popped it in neutral and I could still feel it. Now I am thinking it might be the bearing.

To add to number 2. I took about a 5 hour trip from Charlotte, NC to Atlanta, GA about a month or two ago, this is when I first noticed it. When I got to my destination, when I was parking it felt like I was braking when I was not. That is why I think it may be the bearing.

I would appreciate any thoughts or ideas. I don't necessarily want to go buy a $250 bearing put it on then it not be the problem. Nor do I want to go through the trouble of putting a half axle on and that not be the issue. But if that is what I have to do that's what I have to do.

I'd check a few things:

1.) Make sure all your wheels are on tight.

2.) Check the U-Joints on your drive shafts.

3.) Shake each wheel in and out with your hands. If you can feel play, then most likely the bearings are going bad.

4.) If the first two check out, you may just have a warped rotor. Jack up each wheel and make sure that they spin well.

Hopefully this helps.

So, it turned out to be something even more obvious. A belt in the rear tire broke and the tire was warped. Had I not been checking everything I wouldn't have noticed. Thanks again for the help.
