-20 F No Starter response after boosting attempt.
Relays checked 21/24/19fuse/
Drive Selector lever is slightly sloppy but dash lamps are bright and headlights on.
had cranking smelled burned electrical circuit scent then zero cranking.
all optional equipment functions.
We can keep cranking the engine over until it either starts , we give up or the stater gives up.
Cranking is not recommended to exceed 30 seconds because it causes the starter motor to overheat.
When it overheats and dies, it will give us notice by the "fragrance" of something electrical burning. By that time the damage is done and replacement is required.
Now, you have some idea of what to do,(replace the damaged starter) BUT,,,,,,,,,,,,,, the reason for the no start must be found and corrected .
It could be temp. related , hopefully boost cables were connected correctly.
Maybe something else overheated, we don't know . Follow the scent.
I'll be adding more as my troubleshooting continues.
Images may load out of order - but they were helpful since interior Fuse box lid doesn't label what is in which location.
After some testing - probably a relay bad - about to bench test Solenoid/ Starter for functionality. Fuse list Fuse list Fuse list Fuse list Fuse list
$135 later - All relays tested all fuses checked.
Bench test of SolenoiSolenoid/starter proved Solenoid failure.
Aside from the fun of playing with the tools - double checking is always a good plan.
