1993 f150 4.9 straight 6
My dads ford was handed down to me. It sat for 7 years. So it wouldn't start. I cleaned the plugs replaced all 6 injectors new upper intake manifold gasket threw some gas in out and it started right up. Since its a work in progress I can work on it every day. So a week later I try to start it and it rufused. Then it finally fired up but cylinder 4 misfires and the fuel goes straight into the oil now. What should I do? I'm litteraly stuck at this point and I have no money for a scan tool to check codes
Since you are working with a limited budget, why not try switching the #4 plug with another cyl. See if the miss moves. If so, the plug is No good.
If no change,do the same thing with the #4 injector. That should help isolate the problem. If the miss is still at #4 cyl , suspect the intake manifold gasket. That can be confirmed with a little bit of carb and choke spray in the gasket area. You can also try the substitution of the plug wire too. Let us know what you found.

Thank u, Ik i'm wires are fine because my dad bought me a spark plug wire tester. We originally thought it was 5 then we found a spark plug without a gap so we fox that and switched one with 5 nothing happened. All the plugs are wet and smell like fuel. I cleaned the distributer cap the rotors and everything. No difference. I found that every time I clean the spark plugs she wants to turn over but after the first try. If I try again there's no effort
Are you sure you have good spark ? Check at the coil first then at any plug wire.
Are you sure you have the plug wires in the right place going to the proper cyls in the proper firing order and in the right direction of dist rotation.? To find a plug with no gap is indicative of not being thorough in checking. You may have to start from scratch on this and I would suggest that you get a Haynes manual or something because it gets kinda lengthy.

i have checked to make sure my spark is good. eventually i will have to replace the plugs but for now they should be fine. my wires are labled 1 - 6 and havent been remover from the cap so they should be in the correct order. i have a chilton book i do believe that i have been refuring to. my fireing order is correct. im afraid that my injecters are clogged and are not allowing enough fuel to pass through.
I am somewhat confused. I am having trouble understanding how the plugs can be wet with fuel and the injectors clogged. I believe you cannot have both of those conditions at the same time. If the fuel is getting in there and you have spark and the wiring has not been changed since it last ran, could you have poor quality fuel in the vehicle?
It should still run with one cylinder not performing. One way to check the fuel is to place some (spoon full) on the ground in an open area and try to lite it with a match.
If it won't ignite there, it won't ignite in the cylinder either.

As stated previously if one plug is bad or the wire is defective or the injector is clogged it should still at least start. The oxygen sensor will notify the PCM of a possible lean condition and alter the injector pulse width accordingly to compensate and that could result with excess fuel, but it still should start. If you feel you should change the injector by all means do so. There is a big difference when you are there and we are here.
Did you confirm that the fuel is not contaminated with water? Do the burn test!
There are some things that have to be done first and one of them is to make sure you have good quality fuel going to the injectors. Just because you added fuel doesn't guarantee it did not get mixed with a tank containing moisture/water.
If it will help put your mind at ease, a scan tool will not tell you if you have bad fuel.

I did also add additive ive let it sit for a few days. I will attempt to do the burn test this weekend. I am sorry if you feel like like i'm getting lippy by all means I don't mean to come off this way its just the way I type. I will let u know of the results this weekend
And I know the scan tool won't tell me if I has bad gas. Alot of people are just telling me to use a scan tool or that if I put the new injectors in they should be scanned I don't know people think the scan tool fixes everything where i'm from
