Default 1999 Escort ZX2 Keyless Entry

I need help in locating the keyless entry/anti-theft RAP module on a 1999 Ford Escort ZX2. My keyless entry only works if I am very close to the vehicle even then it's intermittent. Thank you in advance.

your problem is not likely the keyless entry controller, it is more likely your remote and its battery.

if you are using the factory style remote controllers then your keyless entry controller is in the trunk under the carpeting liner almost directly under the location of the antennae.

Default Thank you

Thank you for your reply. I have used new batteries in the remote. Could the remote itself be bad? It does work, but only if I am very close to the RAP module.

it could be the remote but if it is working when close it is not the controller. you can buy an additional remote inexpensively on ebay if you need another one. your car can be programmed for 4 remotes so an additional one wont be a bad idea

maybe try this out
