2018 Ford F-150
I am a new subscriber and I have a 2018 Ford F-150 Lariat that I am doing a heated steering wheel conversion on. I have purchased all of the parts to do this project according to a forum thread that was done some time ago. I purchased a Forscan ELM327 to make the needed changes in the software. My question is: I have never used a Forscan!!! It looks like one end plugs into my laptop and the other into the truck OBDII port. Do I need to purchase anything else besides the Forscan tool?
Welcome to the site.
What/who's ELM 327 did you purchase?
Was it one of the suggested ELM units on the Forscan site?
For Forscan,, for advance access, you'll need to request an 'extended license agreement' from their site. It easy and a no cost download that saves to your PC. (It's a security precaution, like PATS programming etc). You'd then need to load the license code into the Forscan program on your PC. The extended license will then show up when Forscan is launched (under About)
It's good for 90 days, and allows you access to most of the modules to change/add/remove features.
I just added an OE navigation APIM to my non NAV truck. With Forscan, just an upload into the new APIM with my trucks 'As Built' data, and a few changes to add the NAV selection tab on my touch screen.
If you need any help, post up the requests..

Thanks for your reply Hayapower, I purchased the forscan tool from Amazon. It is a ELM 327 with switch for HS and MS supports all OBDll protocols. I tried to install but it ask me for extended coverage. When I went in to do that and get a security code, it said my e-mail domain was on their blackballed list, and would not give me the info I needed to install.
The two ELM's suggested on Forscan automatically switch between HS/MS. Yours doesn't have a physical switch like the old styles, correct?
You downloaded the PC version on their Products page, Correct? https://forscan.org/download/FORScan...47.release.exe
Not sure what your referencing as 'extended coverage'?
You should have been able to download/install the Forscan platform to your PC without any restrictions. So,, you weren't able to submit the activation code?
If the email is an issue, can you open another email as another option. Or, contact Forscan about the glitch...

Open Forscan,, under the 'Settings Icon' in the column/options, under 'General' is Debug or Demo selected?
If Forscan has you blocked, you might try contacting the Admin, or try registering under a different email if possible..
