Default 305 1972 w/ holley

I am building a 1940 Rat Rod and have a 305 with a holley on it w/ electric fuel pump. when I give it gas it wants to hesitate and spit and sputter then stalls. I checked the fuel pressure it good. It is a fresh build with everything new, I just cant seem to locate this nagging problem. Any Ideas?

An accelerator pump might not be working as it should, if we can ask where did you get the carb? The answer to that question might help shed some light on the problem.
Also an ignition problem could not be developing enough to fire the plugs under load.

What type ign system does the vehicle presently have on it?
When you look into the carb with the engine off and move the throttle to full open do you see the full squirt of fuel going into the bores ?
You say it's a 305 , I don't recall Ford making a 305. I could be wrong.
Some vehicles of the older vintage had a resistor for the coil feed (+), some had a coii that didn't require a resistor. There are lots of pieces of info that are unknown at this time so a really worthwhile suggestion is hanging up there someplace.
