Default 88 E150 I6 no crank battery drain

Good day, The issue here is..thought we had a bad starter so put a new one on. It started great for a couple days then I get in one day, turn the key and the starter made a kind of a grinding sound. When I jumped it off, it started up with little trouble but I let it charge for a few minutes before I jumped it. Then After that I put a new solenoid on and now something is draining the battery. Now I have a new battery and it still makes the grinding sound and won't start. Also, when I turn the key now the battery almost instantly goes dead. I put a new wire from the battery + to the solenoid and from the battery - to the bottom bolt of the transmission which was where it was put before from the previous owner. That's what it came off of so that's where I put it back. And I get the same result. Am I missing something? I hooked everything back up the way it came off. I have a multimeter in hand. Fyi, I have some mechanical knowledge just not enough at the moment. Thank you in advance.
